Semi-tractor stood up on end ("like a candle") as a result of an accident
As a result of an accident, the semi-tractor stood up on end ("like a candle") and fell onto its side.
It was carefully lowered with the crane unit of a Fuso tow truck (this video shows only this part of the work), and then, using the winches of another tow truck, the road train was righted onto its wheels and towed on the underlift to a service center (photo at the end of the video).

Before righting, the trailer was completely unloaded. A second tow truck was used to hold it against tipping over.

A short FAQ on clause 20.4 of the Traffic Rules:
Many people think that towing 2 or more vehicles is prohibited - yes, that is true, but in the case of a disabled road train it is the opposite, since it is regarded as a single transport unit.

Tow truck underlift (spectacle lift)
The tow truck is equipped with an underlift with an adjustable boom reach from 2.4 to 3.6 meters, allowing the transport of disabled vehicles by the partial-loading method.
The platform, underlift and winch are controlled from a remote control via radio channel, as well as by means of control levers mounted in a protective housing.

Two-section ramp
The dimensions of the tow truck platform are 6120x2550 mm. The platform is equipped with a unique telescopic two-section ramp, whose sections unfold into the working position and fold one inside the other during transport.
Special brackets for attaching tie-down straps or a block-and-tackle are built into the metal structure at both edges of the platform. The ramp design includes technical openings for threading the winch cable.

Why are mountain switchbacks dangerous for loaded trucks? - during a long descent, if there is no so-called "mountain brake", the driver, by braking constantly, risks using up all the air in the brake system and will end up facing a failure of this system, and on a steep switchback such an outcome makes a serious accident unavoidable.
